We took to the kids to the
2008 Honda Battle of the Bands yesterday afternoon. Eli is so into music these days, we figured he'd enjoy it immensely. And since Lehr and I are still marching band geeks at heart, it seemed like a no-brainer. The only catch was the start time: 3PM. For anyone with a toddler (and a 6-month old), that is a difficult time due to naps. Luckily, both kids fared pretty well for the first two hours. We stuck around another 30 minutes after that, but threw in the towel at 5:30. When we first arrive
d they were performing the Star Spangled Banner, which set Eli off immediately. The acoustics in the Georgia Dome echoed the fireworks so loudly that the poor kid was shaking in fear. Some of the music was a little loud (read: scary) for him too, but he warmed up after the first two bands. Maddux did well also, not crying until about 5PM when she was so exhausted she couldn't even hold her head up. (At that point I actually had to implement the 'finger' trick with her, which I haven't done in months!) They both had a great looong night of sleep last night to catch up, needless to say. Eli woke up this morning talking about tubas, drums, and saxophones.

Oh that sounds fun!!! I know loud anything can be a bit much for our two year olds, but it really does sound like it was a fun time!
